What the IPTV channel list actually contains

The list opens with the Swedish networks — SVT, TV4, Kanal 5, TV6 and the rest of the terrestrial line-up — then continues through the Nordic neighbours, British and American channels, news from around the world and a deep set of programming for children. Sport sits in the same list and needs no add-on: SHL, Allsvenskan, European top-flight football, motorsport and the major tournaments. None of it is locked behind a costlier tier, which is the whole difference from buying them piece by piece.

Finding your way around a large IPTV line-up

A line-up this size is only useful if you can cut it down. Everything is grouped by country and genre rather than sitting in one long row, and you can search by name directly. More useful still, you can hide everything you never watch: drop the thirty you do not recognise and the list becomes your own. Favourites keep the order you put them in, and every device in the house can be set up separately. Those settings follow the account, so you do the work once rather than again on the next screen.

The IPTV guide and pausing live TV

Every channel carries a real TV guide rather than just a name in a list. You see what is on now, what follows, and you can page forward through the schedule for the days ahead. On most of them you can pause the live broadcast and rewind a little, which is enough to put the kettle on without missing the goal. It is the feature people miss most when they move off cable, and the one they rarely think to ask about first.

Picture quality: HD, 4K and what decides it

Most channels broadcast in HD and a growing number in 4K, sport and film especially. What you actually see depends as much on your connection as on the channel: around 15 Mbit/s gives stable HD and 25 Mbit/s covers 4K. If the television sits far from the router, wi-fi causes stuttering more often than raw speed does. Our IPTV channels run at full bitrate, which shows most clearly during a match when the camera pans quickly. It rarely shows on a still frame, and it always shows in motion.
